I uploaded this map of Gatineau Park from a 1965 NCC information brochure, which has been scanned in its entirety as a PDF. Feel free to request a copy at mlait@cpaws.org.

Clicking on the NCC’s 1965 Gatineau Park map clearly shows the 100 acres that will be clearcut beginning August 15th for the A5 extension remains inside the park’s only existing legal federal boundary. A boundary that remains in force by virtue or Order in Council PC-1960-579.
And we have all been swindled by the NCC, which claims this is no longer the “official” boundary, which was changed in 1997 by a board of directors decision, and not by legal instrument.
Last time I looked, a legal instrument was necessary to revoke a previous one, and a legal instrument overruled any board decision every time.
Or maybe, as Marie Lemay said at the April 6 NCC board meeting: I just don’t get it …
The 1965 Gatineau Park map differs somewhat from the one proposed by the Parkway Subcommittee of the Advisory Committee on Gatineau Park in 1953.
See sections of the 1953 map in the documents section at http://www.gatineauparc.ca (Report of the Parkway Subcommitee).
